American Idol Season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina recently shared the sad news that her father has passed away. Because of this, the singer has canceled three of her upcoming appearances as a guest on Jason Aldean’s tour.
Lauren Alaina Cancels Shows Following Father’s Death
On Wednesday, Alaina took to Instagram to share a typed message with her followers, sharing that her father J.J. Suddeth had passed away on Tuesday. As she wrote, “We lost my daddy last night, and I really don’t have words yet.”
“I want to let y’all know that I’m not able to play the three shows I had scheduled for this weekend in Savannah, Virginia Beach, and Charlotte as I am going home to be with my family,” Alaina continued. “Thank you for your prayers and understanding.”
Alaina signed her post by calling herself “Pinky,” which is a nickname given to her by her father. She used the same nickname in an Instagram post last month wishing her dad a happy Father’s Day, featuring photos of them from her wedding.
The singer tied the knot with her husband Cam Arnold in February of this year. The pair hosted a wedding in Nashville attended by over 400 guests, including Jason and Brittany Aldean and Shay Mooney of Dan + Shay.

The singer received an outpouring of support in the comments of her Instagram post, with the Grand Ole Opry writing, “We are so very sorry for your loss! Your Opry family is sending you lots of love and comfort to you and yours.”
Fellow country star Trisha Yearwood wrote, “I love you. So very sorry.” The Voice winners Girl Named Tom, who lost their own father in 2022, wrote that they were “heart broken” for Alaina, adding, “Hold onto each other.”
Alaina has been on tour with Jason Aldean this summer. After this weekend’s shows, she’s scheduled to perform in Darien Center, New York, on August 1. There are even more shows lined up after that in various states.
